The Eligibility questionnaire will confirm whether you are eligible for a scholarship or not by checking:

    1. In which country do you hold citizenship
    2. For how long you have been living in your country
    3. How much work experience do you have
    4. Whether we provide scholarships to your country
    5. Complete the Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships link for the eligibility test.
  • To apply for a Manaaki New Zealand Scholarship, your age must be 18 years old. However, preference will be given to applicants who are under 40 years of age.
  • Applicants from the Samoa Foundation intake can be 17 years of age when they commence their scholarship.
  • Postgraduate and undergraduate applicants must have relevant work experience. Work experience can be voluntary, paid, or unpaid and should meet the following criteria; One year of full-time work experience that can be up to 30 hours or more per week or Two years of part-time work experience that can be up to 29 hours per week.
  • Applicants must reside in their home country for two years before applying for the scholarship.
  • For a postgraduate degree, An IELTS score of 6.5 and no band should be less than 6.0, a TOEFL score of 90 on the internet-based test with a writing score of 21, a PTE Academic score of 58, a communicative skills score cannot be less than 50 or a Cambridge Academic English (advanced) overall score of 176 and no bands should be less than 169.
  • For an undergraduate degree, an overall IELTS score of 6.0 and no band should be less than 5.5, a TOEFL score of 80 on the internet-based test with a writing score of 21, an overall PTE Academic score of 50 and communication skills score should not be less than 42, or a Cambridge Academic English (advanced) overall score of 169 and bands cannot be less than 162.
  • From an early stage, PhD scholarship applicants should approach and find suitable PhD supervisors at New Zealand universities. At the interview stage, PhD scholarship applicants will be required to provide evidence at the interview that they have either a supervisor or are in touch with a potential supervisor.

Eligible candidates can start their application from the application opening date.

Step 1: Confirm your eligibility

To see if you are eligible for a Manaaki New Zealand scholarship, complete the Manaaki New Zealand scholarship "online eligibility test". If the online eligibility test confirms your eligibility then you will get an eligibility code (in numbers).

Step 2: Register and create an account for Manaaki New Zealand scholarship

After the confirmation that you are eligible for a scholarship, you will see a button 'register' on the webpage. Click on it and start your registration. Enter a valid email address that is not already being used to apply for this scholarship. Complete the rest of the details and select register to complete the registration. There you will enter the eligibility code that you have emailed to yourself.

Step 3: You will get an email to set a password to complete the registration

Step 4: Complete your online application and submit it before the deadline
