Scholarship Overview

Level of study: Undergraduate, master's, PhD.

Institutions: Romanian Universities.

Scholarships: Fully funded.

Program period: For Undergraduates - 3 to 6 years, for masters - 1.5 to 2 years, for Doctorate - 3 to 4 years.

Scholarship coverage: It covers full tuition fees, accommodation, and a monthly stipend of up to 650 Euro for undergraduates, 750 Euro for masters’ students, and 850 Euro for PhD students.

Language requirements

For Bachelor and master, study programs are available only in Romanian. A preparatory year in Romanian is also granted before enrolling in the study program for those not speaking Romanian. However, for a PhD, students can choose study programs in English or a foreign language set by a doctoral school.

Application Deadline

Each year applications can be only submitted online, from 15 December to 1 March. Selection results will be announced on the 15th of July. After selection, further formalities will be required such as obtaining a Visa.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

To be eligible, the scholarship applicant:

  • Must submit a complete file.
  • Must Present study documents issued by recognized education institutions in the country where they were issued.
  • Must comply with the enrolment deadline.
  • Must have good results in educational profile, an average of the study years, for the last graduated school of at least 7 corresponding to the scoring system in Romania.
  • Should comply with the application submission methodology.
  • Age - Bachelor's and master's students must be under 35 years old.
  • Doctoral students must be under 45 years.

  1. Degrees, if applicable with authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.
  2. Copies of transcripts of completed studies, if applicable with authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.
  3. Copy of birth certificate and authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if applicable.
  4. Copy of the first three pages of the passport or of the national document of identity and if applicable, with Authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.
  5. CV in English or French.
  6. For the doctoral Cycle, a Letter of intent consisting of scientific works, publications, a detailed description of the proposed research project, and the agreement of a tutor, who should be a member of the chosen doctoral school.

The application will also include the following documents (for candidates who belong to the specific category mentioned for each document):

  1. Copy of proof of name change (if applicable) with authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian, if applicable.
  2. Copy of certificate proving the passing of baccalaureate, bachelor's, or master's exam, for graduates who do not hold the diploma yet and if applicable the authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.
  3. Copy of certificate indicating that the person with a final year of studies is to take the graduation exam at the end of the school/university year and if applicable with the authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.
  4. Copy of transcript attesting the academic record of the student in the final study year until the submission of the application file and if applicable with the authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.
  5. Copy of certificate of completion of Romanian language preparatory year or certificate of linguistic, (if applicable).
  6. Copy of notarized declaration of parental consent for the candidates who haven't reached the age of 18 by the date of commencement of courses and if applicable with the authorized translation in English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.

Application Process

How it Works:

Create an account - Complete the online application – Upload the Documents – Submit the application – Get an answer – Study in Romania.

The scholarship application can be sent online only through the Study in Romania platform.

Candidates can apply and submit the scholarship application Here via the Apply for MFA scholarships button, or directly at access here.

REJECTED: Applications sent directly by the candidates to the registry offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or through the e-mail to the MFA employees/departments of the MFA Headquarters or to the Romanian diplomatic missions or to the foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Bucharest, will not be taken into consideration.

During the indicated period in the university, the admitted candidates should present themselves at the Office of International Relations/ Rector’s Office of the university where they were accepted. Students will present:

  • A complete file including the original application documents; the host universities may require that all registration documents coincide with authenticated copies and legalized translations into Romanian.
  • A copy of the acceptance letter for studies.
  • Passport both original and copy with a valid visa or a residence permit.
  • the medical certificate indicating that the student is fit and free from contagious diseases or other infectious diseases incompatible with the requested studies, as well as, if applicable the authorized translation into English, French, Spanish, or Romanian.
  • Other documents required by universities.
